In this site-specific work, the revival of the substation—which until the 1970s powered Boston’s trolley system—serves as a point of departure to consider questions about togetherness, community relationships, and moving forward in the face of uncertainty. The text was inspired by transcribed interviews with Roslindale residents in the 1970s, particularly the words of Louise Goodsill, whose oral history is part of the archives of the City of Boston and the Roslindale Historical Society.
